Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced that Associate Vice President and mid-Atlantic Traffic Engineering Department Manager Jerry Mrykalo, PE, PTOE, has been elected to the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance’s Engineering Consultant Leadership Committee (VTCA ECLC). This committee serves as an advisory and advocacy board to better represent and protect contractors, engineers, and suppliers who work to design, build, and maintain Virginia’s transportation network.

As a new member, Mrykalo will be aiding in the collaboration between the ECLC, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), and industry partners to advance the interests and capabilities of engineers in the surrounding Virginia area.

With over 18 years of transportation engineering experience, Mrykalo is based in the firm’s Fairfax, Virginia, office. Since joining the firm in 2006, he has specialized in traffic analysis, traffic engineering design, and traffic planning. Mrykalo has supported many of the firm’s landmark projects across Virginia, including the I-64 Capacity Improvements Segment III, the I-95 and Route 630 Diverging Diamond Interchange, and the Warrenton Southern Interchange.

“I am honored to receive this election,” says Mrykalo. “I look forward to working closely with industry peers and VDOT leadership to help deliver a transportation program that is a national model for other states, while also advocating for the interests of Virginia’s consulting engineering industry.”

Mrykalo earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from The Pennsylvania State University (2005). He is also the former Design-Build Committee Chairman of the VTCA from 2018-2020.
