Dewberry’s Catherine Bohn Promoted to Associate Vice President

GIS professional promoted in firm’s Fairfax, Virginia, office.

Catherine Bohn

Dewberry has announced the promotion of Catherine Bohn, GISP, to associate vice president in the firm’s Fairfax, Virginia, office.

Bohn, who has more than 20 years of experience, provides geographic information systems (GIS) support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), state governments, and localities. She assists government managers in using remotely sensed data and geospatial analysis tools to respond to natural disasters.

Bohn’s extensive experience includes geospatial database design, web mapping application development, algorithm development, analysis, needs assessments, field data collection, and GIS training. She has been deployed to many disaster areas in several states, and as a senior project manager she is involved in the full life cycle of GIS projects, from initial conception through design, prototyping, testing, implementation, training, and maintenance.

Recently, she supported FEMA in the response and recovery efforts for the 2016 flooding in southern Louisiana. Her team of geospatial analysts worked to assemble an initial flood depth grid and damage assessments within 48 hours of FEMA’s request. The flood depth grid enabled FEMA to focus its resources on impacted areas and quickly identify structures that may have been damaged. This analysis was also performed for Hurricane Hermine, Hurricane Matthew, the California and Nevada floods in early 2018, and the spring floods in the Midwest.

Bohn earned her master’s degree in geographic and cartographic sciences from George Mason University and her bachelor’s degree in geography from the University of Mary Washington.
