The Professional Engineers of North Carolina (PENC), a branch of the National Society of Professional Engineers, recently selected Patrick Covil, PE, CFM, LEED AP, as president of the organization’s Central Carolina chapter. In this role, Covil is responsible for leading chapter meetings and overseeing general chapter-related business, including community outreach events and business development initiatives.
Covil has more than 12 years’ experience in the design and implementation of stormwater systems and flood study analyses, and has been with Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, for nearly a year and sits in the Raleigh, North Carolina, office. He supports the firm’s civil engineering practice, specializing in water resources, site development, and stormwater conveyance solutions for municipal, industrial, federal, and private clients.
“We’re very proud of Patrick’s many accomplishments,” said Dewberry Associate Matt West, PE, LEED AP BD+C. “His leadership skills are evident by the way he successfully manages projects throughout their life cycle and always prioritizes the client.”
Covil earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from North Carolina State University (2003). He is a professional engineer in Georgia and North Carolina, and a certified erosion and sediment control designer. In addition to serving as the Central Carolina chapter president for PENC, he is also a member of the North Carolina Association of Floodplain Managers.
