Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, announced that it has been selected by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) to perform watershed modeling across Region 7 under an indefinite delivery indefinite quantity contract as part of the larger statewide watershed initiative. This program introduces a new watershed-based approach to reducing flood risk in Louisiana. The $20-million contract is effective for five years.
The purpose of this project is to develop comprehensive hydrologic and hydraulic numerical models of the regional drainage basins, focusing on identifying areas that can be improved to reduce future flood risk, supporting floodplain management, and provide local stakeholders with the tools needed to efficiently assess potential flood mitigation projects on a watershed scale. The firm’s services include stakeholder engagement, hydro-meteorology, hydrology, hydraulics, consequence modeling, and the assessment of flood risk reduction projects.
“Louisiana has always been home to me,” says Dewberry Associate Vice President and Client Manager Jerri Daniels, CFM. “The flooding that the state has experienced is severe, and we are thankful for the opportunity to work with DOTD to perform watershed modeling for this particularly vulnerable region.”
Dewberry has also been selected to provide independent quality assurance for Regions 1 and 6.
