Dewberry announced that it has been selected by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to provide engineering design services for a grade-separated interchange in Fauquier County where U.S. Route 15/17/29 intersects Business U.S. Route 15/17/29 to the west, and Lord Fairfax Drive to the east. The firm is teamed with Shirley Contracting Company, LLC on the design-build project.
Covering about 1.5 miles, the project is intended to reduce the number of rear end collisions, increase overall safety, minimize congestion, and provide an appropriate linkage between multiple roadways. The firm will assess numerous factors, including environmental, geotechnical, hydraulics and stormwater, traffic control, utilities, lighting, and construction. In addition to conducting activities necessary for design approval, Dewberry will also conduct construction engineering inspection activities to address VDOT’s quality control requirements.
With designs already underway, the project is expected to be complete in 2020, totaling approximately $19.5 million.
