The Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA) announced that Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has been recognized as the 2021 VTCA Engineering Awards Design-Build category winner for its I-95/Route 630 Interchange Reconstruction and Widening project.

Dewberry served as the lead engineer on the design-build project, providing transportation and engineering services, field surveying and environmental permitting services, and quality control inspection during construction. The project included widening Route 630 (Courthouse Road) west of I-95 for approximately two miles, reconfiguring the interchange at I-95 to a diverging diamond and locating it approximately 700 feet south of the existing interchange, realigning Route 630 east of I-95 with a new roadway connection extending to Route 1 at Hospital Center Drive, implementing two new park-and-ride facilities, and incorporating shared-use path and sidewalk facilities.

“We are honored to receive this award and have this project recognized,” says Dewberry Vice President and Business Unit Manager Steve Kuntz, PE, DBIA. “The team that supported it should be proud of its success and positive impact on the community.”
