Dewberry announced that senior associate
Eric Boschen, PE, has been named Civil Engineer of the Year for 2019 by the
American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) North Jersey Branch.
Boschen has more than 30 years of experience in
water resources engineering and has been involved in a wide range of projects
related to hydrologic and hydraulic studies, stormwater management and flood
control. His work includes analysis and design for drainage and flood control projects,
stormwater management facilities, roadway and bridge drainage systems, bridge
scour countermeasures, dam safety improvements, stormwater pump stations and stream
corridor restoration. In addition to designing and managing the water resources
portion of many projects, Boschen’s work includes the regulatory agency
permitting needed to enable those projects to be constructed.
As one of New Jersey’s top hydrology and
hydraulics experts, Boschen works to shape the regulations and guidance that
govern how the state addresses stormwater and water resources. In July 2019, on
behalf of the New Jersey Department of Transportation, he presented new rules
regarding green infrastructure best management practices for stormwater
management to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
Boschen earned a bachelor’s degree in civil
engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (1989). He is a
professional engineer in Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York, and a member of
ASCE.
“Eric has been responsible for the hydrologic and
hydraulic analyses, drainage design, and permitting for hundreds of projects.
He uses his quiet intellect to ask the right questions, listen to responses,
develop solutions, and inspire those around him to excellence,” says Dewberry Senior
Associate James Heeren, PE, ENV SP.
