The Town of Leesburg, Virginia, recently celebrated the ribbon cutting of its newly renovated police headquarters. The project included upgrades to the existing 21,000-square-foot facility and a 14,500-square-foot addition. Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, provided comprehensive design services, including architecture, civil engineering, and mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineering.

The site supports many critical functions, housing Leesburg’s police headquarters, independent technical support building, secure parking, and public parking areas. Due to significant growth and expansion of operations, the local police force had outgrown the original facilities, which were built in 1997. Renovations included additional secure parking, further space for storage and staff amenities, energy efficient systems and lighting, electric vehicle charging stations, secure staff courtyard, fitness room, and new security and audio/visual systems. Construction was completed in phases, allowing the existing space to remain operational throughout the project.

“Our design addresses critical operational, security, and technology needs for the Leesburg’s police force,” says Dewberry Associate Principal and Senior Project Manager Rod Williams, AIA, CPD, LEED AP BD+C. “We’re pleased to celebrate this milestone with the town and contribute to the improved facility that will support the growing community for years to come.”
