MDTA Selects Dewberry and WBCM Joint Venture for Nearly $12 Million in Contracts

Firm to provide intelligent transportation systems, electrical design, and transportation engineering services under numerous contract vehicles.

Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm,
has announced that it has been selected for two, multimillion-dollar contracts
by the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA), totaling nearly $12 million in
value. Each contract is related to traffic and multidisciplinary transportation
services, and each is a joint venture (JV) with WBCM.

The first contract is valued at $4.25 million with a
five-year timeline and will include intelligent transportation systems (ITS)
and electrical design services. The JV team will provide tolling technology,
connected and autonomous vehicle technologies, traffic cameras, dynamic signs,
communication systems, and electrical systems designs, as well as project
management and general engineering services.

The second contract is a five-year, $7.25-million
comprehensive preliminary engineering and final design services task order.
Under this contract, the JV team will provide structural, roadway, traffic,
hydraulics, environmental, and survey scope services, including work on MDTA’s
signature bridges and general engineering contract (GEC) services.

“Our transportation team is thrilled to be a part of
Maryland’s efforts to improve transportation infrastructure across the state,”
says Dewberry Associate Vice President Jerry Mrykalo, PE, PTOE. “We’re looking
forward to the advancements that will come as a result of these projects and
are grateful to MDTA for the opportunity to support them.”
