Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced that Mike Simmons, PG, has joined the firm as a senior hydrogeologist in Orlando, Florida.
Simmons has nearly 25 years of experience in water resources engineering. Before joining Dewberry, he worked for Parsons Brinckerhoff and WSP, providing public water supply development, well field siting, production well design, production well rehabilitation, and aquifer test analysis. Simmons has also provided groundwater flow modeling to support water use permit modification for municipal clients.
As a part of Dewberry’s Central Florida water practice, Simmons will be responsible for designing raw water supply wells, performing numerical groundwater flow modeling, and client relations.
“As a new addition to our team, Mike will analyze the impacts of our One Water projects on the groundwater resources,” says Dewberry Vice President Robert Beltran, PE, BCEE. “In restoring natural systems in the Peace Creek basin along with McIntosh Park in Plant City, Mike will aid in better understanding the benefits to the surficial and upper-Floridan aquifer. He will also be pivotal in assisting clients in maximizing their current groundwater allocations while adapting the changing regulatory environment in Florida.”
Simmons earned a bachelor’s degree in geological sciences from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (1994).
