Shepard Hockaday, PE, LEED AP, was recently inducted into the North Carolina State University 2018 Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) department’s Alumni Hall of Fame. The MAE Hall of Fame was established to inspire current students and celebrate accomplishments of those extraordinary graduates who have used their education to excel in a profession, career, or service.

Hockaday, who has three-and-a-half decades of experience, is a senior vice president and the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing service line leader at Dewberry, where he has been employed since 2008. In his tenure with the firm, he has led a team of nearly 150 professionals across six offices nationwide. Hockaday and his team serve clients across multiple markets, including healthcare, commercial, industrial, higher education, and government.

The 1984 graduate studied mechanical engineering and later went on to earn a master’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida (1988). In 1992 he graduated from the Young Executives Institute, Kenan Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Hockaday has managed global engineering teams, overseeing projects in Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. He holds six patents, is a professional engineer, a licensed general contractor, and member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and National Society of Professional Engineers.

“I’m honored to be recognized among such outstanding colleagues,” says Hockaday. “This group of inductees has contributed greatly to the industry, and I’m privileged to have my name and work associated with them.”
