Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced that Aaron Edmonson, PE, PMP, has joined the firm as senior associate and national flood resilience program manager for its engineering practice. In his new role, Edmonson will support the firm’s resilience growth initiative and lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver engineering design and construction services for flood resilience projects. Edmonson is based in the firm’s Virginia Beach, Virginia, office.

Prior to joining Dewberry, Edmonson served as chief of the engineering and construction division for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Norfolk, Virginia. In this role, he led a team of 150 engineering and construction professionals across military construction, civil works, and interagency business lines. During his 25 years of federal service, Edmonson worked on large scale civil works projects to design and construct flood control systems, including coastal storm risk management (CSRM) studies in Florida’s Miami-Dade County and Norfolk, Virginia; the Herbert Hoover Dike Rehabilitation in South Florida; and post-Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts in New Orleans, Louisiana.

“Aaron’s extensive federal experience in the design and construction of large-scale flood risk reduction projects strongly aligns with our focus on long-term climate adaptability for our communities and infrastructure,” says Dewberry Associate Vice President and National Flood Resilience Engineering Leader Rahul Parab, PE, BC.WRE. “His professional achievements in flood resilience demonstrate the complex problem-solving and innovative solutions we bring to our clients for advancing risk reduction.”

Edmonson earned his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus (2020) and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Virginia Military Institute (1998).
