ENR Southeast has named Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, as the Top Design Firm of the Year, which was announced in an April 23 article.

“Along with capitalizing on long-standing relationships with several federal clients, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s flood insurance and disaster assistance programs, Dewberry has beefed up its existing North Carolina and Florida operations via acquisitions of local companies with complementary capabilities, giving the organization 20 offices in four Southeast states. Strategic hires have also provided Dewberry with instant entrees in current and emerging markets, including energy infrastructure and port and intermodal facilities,” quotes author Jim Parsons.

In the past five years, Dewberry has grown nationally by around 1,900 employees to more than 2,200 today. In the southeast, the firm grew from about 275 to more than 500 employees during the same time frame.

The article states of Dave Maxwell, executive vice president of the firm’s southeast region that, “[the firm] need[s] to provide a level of service inherent in a community-based firm.” Dewberry has been practicing in communities across the nation for more than 60 years. A national firm with a community-based practice, the firm seeks to prioritize the communities where it’s involved and the individuals who live and work in them.
