Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm,
has announced the appointment of Charles L. Stebbins, Jr., CPG, CHMM, LSRP, to
the New Jersey Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board. Stebbins was
appointed by New Jersey Governor Philip D. Murphy and approved by the New
Jersey State Senate, which involved a two-year confirmation process. Licensed Site
Remediation Professionals (LSRP) are responsible for investigating and cleaning
up contaminated sites state-wide, in the interest and protection of public
health, safety, and the environment. In his role as one of 13 licensing board
members, Stebbins is tasked with helping to oversee licensing and performance
of LSRPs in New Jersey. The Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board,
created under the 2009 New Jersey Site Remediation Reform Act, is responsible
for establishing licensing requirements and overseeing the licensing and
performance of site remediation professionals in the state. There are currently
more than 700 LSRPs in New Jersey.
Stebbins is a senior associate and senior project manager
in Dewberry’s environmental services group based in Parsippany, New Jersey. He
has more than 30 years of experience in the environmental and construction
industry and has been with Dewberry for over 16 years. Stebbins has experience
in environmental-related programs under contracts with multiple transportation
agencies, utility companies, and design/construction firms. He has managed
large environmental programs, including site assessments and characterization,
remedial investigations, right-of-way acquisition support, remedial action
design and implementation, and construction management. He helped develop the
New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) technical guidance
for linear construction projects.
“I am honored to be appointed to the New Jersey Site
Remediation Professional Licensing Board,” says Stebbins. “I look forward to
serving on the board and contributing to the environmental industry in my
state.”
Stebbins earned a master’s degree in construction management
from the Stevens Institute of Technology (1999) and a bachelor’s degree in geology
from Rutgers University (1991). He is a past president of the New Jersey
Chapter of the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals, formerly the New
Jersey Chapter of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers.
