Chesterfield County Public Schools in Chesterfield, Virginia, recently celebrated the completion of a $9.5-million renovation to the Career and Technical Center at Hull with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The project also included modernizations to the Thomas R. Fulghum Conference Center. Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, provided architecture, interior design, civil engineering, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services.

The project reimagined 42,000 square feet of existing office and administrative spaces into specialized learning areas, nearly doubling the center’s classroom capacity to accommodate growing enrollment and expand technical education opportunities for students across Chesterfield County. With this expansion, the facility supports new student programs in business, energy, health sciences, and more. The renovation also improved existing programs, including the addition of real-world simulations for hospitality students and industry-standard equipment in television and media production spaces. Expanded information technology labs strengthen the focus on artificial intelligence throughout the center’s curriculum.

“The renovated Career and Technical Center increases access to education, providing students with hands-on opportunities to develop their skills,” says Dewberry Principal and Business Unit Manager Jean O’Toole, AIA, PMP, LEED AP BD+C, NCARB. “We’re excited that our firm’s expertise will strengthen the local workforce and contribute to the community’s long-term success.”
